As of June 1st, 2025, new regulations for dog owners apply in the
Canton of Zurich.
This overview shows you in seconds which courses and exams
are mandatory for you.
You have never owned a Dog before?
Then you need:
Theory Course (2 hours + Exam)
Practical Dog Training Course (minimum 6 Lessons)

You owned a Dog in the past – but your last one was more than 10 Years ago?
Theory Course (2 hours + Exam)
Practical Dog Training Course (minimum 6 Lessons)
You had a Dog within the last 10 Years and got a new one after June 1st, 2025?
No Theory Course needed
Practical Dog Training Course (minimum 6 Lessons)
Did you move with your current Dog to the Canton of Zurich after June 1st, 2025?
No Theory Course needed
Practical Dog Training Course (minimum 6 Lessons)
Did you get your Dog before June 1st, 2025?
No Courses needed
