Our Courses: More than Mandatory
Since 1 June 2025, a new mandatory training requirement applies to dog owners in the Canton of Zurich.
At The Gentledog Academy, you can complete both the new theoretical course including the exam and the mandatory practical course – thoughtfully structured and delivered with clarity and style.
Theory Course (2 hours + Exam)
Mandatory for first-time dog owners & Returning Owners
If you have never owned a dog before, or if it has been more than 10 years since you last owned one, this course is legally mandatory.
What you will learn with us:

Rights and responsibilities of dog owners in the Canton of Zurich

Breeds, needs & species-appropriate care

Body language, signals & how to avoid misunderstandings

Preparation for everyday life with a dog
